Then & Now - Memorial Hall

The Clark County Veterans Memorial (it's official name) has served Clark County as a cultural center, meeting place and as a monument to the men and women of our community who have served in the military. Politicians have spoken at the hall, union members met here to vote, musical and symphonic performances occurred here, circuses, wrestling matches, boxing matches, banquets and graduations.

The cannon that used to grace the lawn in front of the hall was used in the Civil War. It was removed because the wooden frame had rotted to a significant degree. It was used at the Battle of Fredericksburg, Virginia, December 13, 1862.

The Hall was built in 1915 at 300 West Main st. One source stated that the hall seated 1,500 patrons. It closed its doors in 1985.

Below was Memorial Hall in 2006.
