Mary Jane (Hines) Folkerth

Mary Jane (Hines) Folkerth, 84 of Springfield passed away Sunday, January 4, 2009 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center-East High Campus. She was born August 5, 1924 the daughter of the late Fred and Blanche (Holton) Hines in Springfield where she resided all her life, raised her family whom she loved dearly and made many friends.

She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the Emmaus Community, Jail Chaplaincy Board, Church Women United, Keep Movin and a 1942 graduate of Springfield High School. She loved God, her family, many friends and enjoyed life to the fullest. Mary retired from Clark State Community College in 1984 where she enjoyed the fellowship of her co-workers. At that time she took up the game of tennis where she made many friends and became addicted to the game on TV when she could no longer play.

She is survived by her sons, Paul Douglas (Leslie) Folkerth of Gainesville, Florida and Mark Christian (Janice) Folkerth of Troy, Ohio and step-children, Michael Puckett of Santa Monica, California; daughters, Juanita Potter of Springfield and Rosetta Lockard of Lancaster, Ohio. She is also survived by a nephew, Larry Overholser; nieces, Carol Bowsher, Sue Fischer and Judy Bivens all of Springfield and many special friends who along with her family made her life complete.

She was preceded in death by her husband, father of her children, Paul F. Folkerth in 1965 and husband, Carl W. Puckett in 2000. She is also preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Leona Mae Clark and Doris Marie Overholser.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 from 5-7 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday with the funeral beginning at 9 a.m. in the Grace United Methodist Church, 1401 East Main Street, Springfield, Ohio 45504 with Pastor Bob Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Ferncliff Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers which she loved or mementos, memorial gifts may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church. A special thank you to the doctors who have walked with her all the way, Dr. Richard Darr, Dr. Noshir DeBoo, Dr. Narinder Saini and Dr. Joel Sorger.
