Irene Victoria Novak

Irene Victoria (Brown) Novak, 84, formerly of Fairborn departed this worldly life and entered the life triumphant on August 10, 2008. She was born August 8, 1924, in Norwich, England, the youngest of two daughters born to Charles and May Brown.

After graduating from the British school system, Irene secured an office job at Clark's Shoes of England. During World War II, she met her future husband, Ernest, an American serviceman stationed in England, at the Lido Dance Hall. They were married in St. Phillips's Church in Norwich on July 14, 1945.

Their first daughter, Adrienne, was born in London and after the War, the three of them moved to Fairborn where Ernest worked as a translator for the Foreign Technology Division of Wright Patterson Base while also practicing Chiropractic; Irene worked as a full-time homemaker.

She is survived by her three daughters, Adrienne (Rick) Krowialis of Miamisburg, Karen (Hobert) Mullins of Springfield, and Renita (James) Duvall of Yellow Springs;five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest, on March 7, 2008; sister, Kathleen Holland, on January 28, 2005; and brother-in-law, George Novak, on August 2, 1994.

Irene enjoyed traveling, gardening, houseplants, flowers, a slice of good cheese, and the warmth of the sun on her face. Her last memories were of her 84th birthday celebrated on August 8th. She had one of her favorite meals, a Big Buford, along with her favorite cake, German chocolate. She wore her favorite sweater and had fresh-cut flowers on her apartment table. She sat in the courtyard of Sterling House and enjoyed the "lovely" sun. All of this was hers for the day, while surrounded by her many friends at Sterling House and family members, including her newest great- grandbaby, Kylie. It was a perfectly beautiful and "lovely" day! And we are so thankful!

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2008 in LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, with Pastor Daniel M. Powell officiating.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Dr. Richard Darr, Community Hospital's emergency room and 3 South staff, Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, and the staff and residents of Sterling House for their care, kindness, support and compassion.
