Hubert C. Loewer, 79, of Springfield, died at 10:46 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2008 in his residence.

He was born in Springfield on June 30, 1928 to Carl F. and Agnes L. (Donahue) Loewer.

He retired in 1979 from the Air Force Logistics Command at WPAFB after 32 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he also served on the Building and Maintenance Committee. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the AARP, an avid golfer in the Springfield area and a member of the Springfield Golf Association.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Marilyn E. (Dugan); 4 children and spouses, David and Paula Loewer, San Antonio, TX, Dennis and Lori Loewer, Fayetteville, GA, Deborah Loewer, Washington, D.C., and Kathleen Sladen, Algonac, MI; 7 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews including Terry and Claudia Brewer, Judy Scherer and Jon Loewer.

He was preceded in death by a sister Henrietta Brewer and a brother Edwin Loewer.

Friends may call at the Conroy Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Church with burial in St. Bernard Cemetery.
