Glenn Lamar Gray

Glenn Lamar Gray went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 23, 2008 following a courageous battle with cancer and was surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on March 18, 1947 in Brewton, Alabama.

He was preceded in death by parents Elmer Roland Gray, Clara “Ethel” (Dolihite) and Roger Hallock.

He was employed fifteen years with the railroad as a dispatcher and retired from Springview Developmental Center in 2005 where he worked as a boiler operator. Glenn enjoyed boating, fishing and mushroom hunting, but more than anything, he liked spending time with his family, especially his four grandsons.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Angela (Decker) Gray; daughter Emily Williams; grandsons Micah Williams, with whom he had a special father and son relationship, Isaiah and Samuel Williams and Javin Newell who were very special to him; a sister and brother-in-law, Janet and John Banta; nephews Ronald, Donald, Charles and Scott Sansom and Rodney Banta; aunts, Mary Harden, Claudia Lynch, Louise Salter, Peggy and Al Goudy; a number of cousins including special cousin Tim Lynch; numerous nieces and nephews; his in-law’s, Robert and Barbara Decker, Martha and Pete Trimble, Catherine Travis and Francine Goodyear; His best friend, Dale “Dood” Blakely, friends Mark and Sharon Bobo, Greg Bobo and Wayne Coomer; and his loyal companions, his dogs, Amos and Andy.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the Conroy Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with Mr. John Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Community Mercy Hospice.
