Garnet Marie Peters

Garnet Marie (Harvey) Peters, 88, passed away on Thursday, April 11, in Ballground, Georgia.

She was born November 15, 1919 in Beaver, Pike County, Ohio, the eldest daughter of William and LouAnne (Brigner) Graham.

Garnet loved to paint, and sculpt, and enjoyed poetry, music, volleyball, bowling, hiking and nature. A Wittenberg graduate, she taught for many years at Hustead and Indian Valley Middle Schools. Before going to Georgia she was an active member of Eastern Star.

Garnet was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Harvey, in 1967 and her second husband of thirty-two years, Paul Peters, in 2003.

She is survived by her three daughters and two sons-in-law, Ruth Ellen and Dale Brewer of Springfield, Nancy Harvey and Paul Rector of Minnetrista, Minnesota, and Bonnie Varnell of Ball Ground, Georgia; five grandchildren, Wendy, Jessica, Michael, Tracey, and Aaron; and 5 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Huey Funeral Home in Canton, Georgia on Monday, April 14, from 6-10p.m. with a funeral service at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in Georgia.

Family and friends will gather at the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME from 10-12 on Saturday, April 19. A graveside ceremony will follow at 1p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery.
