G. Lester Hansen, 88, formerly of Kenmare, North Dakota, passed away at 8:42 PM Sunday, February 3, 2008 in Alterra Sterling House.

He was born May 29, 1919 in Kenmare, North Dakota the son of Hans G. and Christina (Paulson) Hansen.

Mr. Hansen was a very active member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Kenmare. He was a life member of the Kenmare Country Club and had been the Mayor of Kenmare for 18 years. He was also a member of the Lions Club and had retired from farming.

Survivors include one daughter Deann “Dee” Lyons, of Springfield, grandchildren; Dr. Scott (Michell) Wilke, Chris (Kim ) Wilke, all of Springfield, Greg Hansen (Angela Wilson) Bozeman, Montana and Laura (Jim) Sterling, Richland, Washington, seven great grandchildren, and one sister Marjorie Martinsen, Kenmare, North Dakota.

He was preceded in death by his wife Doris Hansen in 1998, a son Gary Hansen and his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, February 10, in the Nazareth Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, North Dakota.

If desired , memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Mr. Hansen‘s memory.
