Ernest O. Core age 70 took his wings and flew home to the Lord on January 24, 2008.

He was born April 25, 1937 in Marion, AL to PK & Elsie Core.

Ernest was a faithful member of People’s Baptist Church, an ordained deacon and served as a trustee. He was retired from Dayton Casting and American (Allstate) Steel.

He leaves loving memories with his wife Geneva E. (Reed) Core of 52 years, 4 daughters, Virginia Core of Springfield, OH, Cecelia (Willie) Ritchie Jr. of Crystal, MN, Amelia (Nathaniel) Mays of Maplewood, MN., and Lenora (Derrick) Byrd Sr. of Springfield, OH., Two sisters, Cornelia Wynn of Dayton, OH and Juanita Wright of Buffalo, NY., one brother Lester (Tommie) Core of Marion, AL. His wonderful 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Harmon, Robert and LeRoy Core.

Visitation and services will be held Saturday, February 2nd at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1171 S. Yellow Springs St. Visitation will be 11:30am to 1:00 pm and services directly following. Officiating -Rev. William G. Crawford and Eulogist-Rev. Kristopher L. Peterson, People’s Baptist Church and Funeral Arrangement conducted by Robert C. Henry Funeral Home.
