EDWARD L. ELLEBRUCK, 68, of South Vienna, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at the will of God. Ed was born on January 21, 1940 in Wadsworth, Ohio the son of George Ellebruch and Gertrude (Klusty) Johnson.

A 1958 graduate of Wadsworth High School, he entered the United States Air Force. Following his basic training, he was sent to the U.S. Army Language School in Monterey, California to learn Russian. He was then assigned to northern Japan with the Air Force Security Service to monitor Soviet military operations. In August 1961, Ed intercepted the voice transmission of the second Russian cosmonaut, German Titov, after he was launched into orbit. During his two years in Japan, Ed studied the Japanese language, and assisted Japanese students and their families in their study of the English language.

In 1965, Ed was employed by the Bonded Oil Company as a purchasing manager. After retiring from Bonded Oil and EMRO Marketing, Ed began a repair and restoration business which continued for several years. Ed also started a chimney sweep and cleaning operation which he and his son, Tim maintained for 19 years.

In the 1970's, Ed was active in the Clark County Council for Retarded Citizens and served as its president for several years. The council later became ARC of Clark County. In 1983, as a board member, he was instrumental in the incorporation of TAC Industries; he later became TAC Industries president and served in that capacity until his passing.

For many years Ed trained and instructed in the Tae Kwon Do martial arts, achieving Master Status. Training was given pro bono to various schools and students. His most meaningful experiences in recent years were realized serving with a Christian related school, which is a recognized national and international organization.

For most of his life, woodworking, gardening and many other activities were great joys to him. He took personal pride in constructing and landscaping the family's home and barn. He was deeply devoted to his family and home.

Ed is survived by his wife of 43 years, Margaret "Pat" Ellebruck; two sons, Thomas Ellebruck at home and Timothy of Springfield; a sister, Peggy (Cliff) Chapman of Lincoln, Nebraska; two granddaughters, Brandi and Alyssa; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A celebration of Ed's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 16 in the Maiden Lane Church of God.
