DOROTHY L. MERCER, 80, of Springfield, died Friday evening, July 11, 2008 in the IOOF Home. She was born in Pikeville, Kentucky on December 3, 1927 the daughter of Samuel and Easter (Justice) Lowe. Dorothy will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother as well as her love of flowers and gardening.

Survivors include three sons, Dennis "Randy" Mercer of Springfield, Nick (Paula) Mercer of Beeville, Texas and Robert Douglas Mercer of Corpus Christi, Texas; two daughters-in-law, Karen Mercer and Sue Mercer; a sister, Edna Goff of Brevard, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Pam Roe, Rob (Kelly) Mercer, Rick (Greta) Mercer, Matthew and Adam Mercer, Karina Mercer, and Douglas Mercer; seven great grandchildren, Ashley and Lance Roe, Branden, Lauren, Shelby, Zane, and Jaydon Mercer; one great-great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Warren Mercer in 1980; a son, Dan Mercer; two sisters, Kelsey Bevins and Mavis Goff; and a brother, Eugene Lowe.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in Lawrenceville Cemetery with Rev. Forrest Dyer officiating.
