Dennis D. “Tip” Rizer, 87, of Springfield, died at 10:05 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008 in Oakwood Village Care Center.

He was born February 17, 1921 in Springfield, OH to Dennis C. and Hester (Carlisle) Rizer.

Dennis retired in 1983 as an engineer with D.T. & I. Railroad after 18 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a WW 2 U.S. Army Veteran having served with the 5th Air Force, 2nd Air Service Squadron.

Survivors include 2 children and spouse, Sally Rizer and Dennis G. and Kathleen Rizer of Springfield; 2 grandchildren, Denny and Drew; a sister, Mary Ann Evilsizor of California and numerous nieces and nephews. His wife, Kathryn Jean in 1996 and 2 brothers, Benjamin and James, preceded him in death.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Drs. Hickerson and To and to the staff of Oakwood Village Care Center for the wonderful care they provided.

Friends may call in the Conroy Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to St Vincent DePaul Society or the Animal Welfare League.
