Darlene Ann Campbell

Darlene Ann Campbell, 75, of Springfield, died Friday, June 27, 2008 at 2:45 AM.

She was born December 23, 1932 in Springfield, Clark County, Ohio, the 5th child of Henry Clinton and Leona Myrtle (Allen) Campbell.

Dalene resided on Karr Street for many years. After the death of her sister Evelyn, in 1978, Darlene resided at the Mueller Center. Darlene enjoyed working at TAC II, refusing to retire when that day came. She enjoyed bird watching and she loved Christmas.

She was preceded in death by her father (1939), mother (1980), sister Catherine Juanita Campbell Pratt (1974), sister Beulah Jacqueline Campbell (1921), sister Evelyn Carolyn Campbell Stevens (1978), brother Allen Henry Campbell (1969) and nephew Richard Allen Pratt (1983).

Survivors include nieces, Yolanda Campbell Lifter ( Bruce) of Malabar, FL, Kelley Campbell Sorrow and Holly Campbell of Warner Robins, GA, step nephew, Jim Woods of Springfield, sister-in-law, Dorothy Cook of Warner Robins, GA, grandnieces, Ashley Hartwell (Jason) of Warner Robins, GA, Allyson Lifter and Kimberly Lifter of Malabar, FL, grandnephews, Hank Sorrow and Avery Campbell of Warner Robins, GA; great grandnephew Michael Pratt of Castro Valley, CA, great great grandniece of Castro Valley, CA, long time family friend Lou Ann Richardson of Springfield, and all of her friends at MRDD and the dedicated staff who loved and cared for Darlene.

Many of Darlene’s ancestors arrived in Ohio in the early 1800’s with the majority of them settling in Brown, Highland, Jackson and Pike counties. Dalrene’s paternal grandparents were Daniel Harvey and Frances (Dunham) Campbell who came to Springfield in the ealy 1900’s from Highland County, Ohio. Her maternal grandparents were John Wesley and Eliza Ann (Grow) Allen of Pike County.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Rick Clos officiating. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in Newcomers Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be mande to the F. F. Mueller Residential Center, 2535 Kenton Street, Springfield, Ohio 45505
