Charles J. Townsend, Jr., 55, died Friday, February 29, 2008 in San Diego, California.

He was born March 26, 1952 in Richmond, Virginia. Charles was a graduate of Ridgewood School, North High School and attended Urbana University, Urbana, Ohio.

He is survived by his son Charles J. Townsend II, his parents Dr. Charles J. and Rosell Townsend, all of Springfield; two sisters Mrs. Holly LeFevre of Springfield and Mrs. Teresa Ann (Randy) Alford of Roswell, Georgia; several nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services and inurnment will be held in Ferncliff Cemetery with Rev. Bobbie Predmore officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to High Street United Methodist Church or to the donor’s favorite charity.

The family is being served by the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME.
