Charles Hall

Charles “Buddy” Hall, 78, of South Charleston, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2008 in the Heartland of Urbana. He was born on October 3, 1930 in Selma, the son of Charles W. and Jenny (Johnson) Hall.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Kathleen (Jones) Hall, sisters: Juanita Morris, Estella Jones and Lula Mae Hall; his in-laws who were like his parents, Sherman and Mary Jones. He is survived by two daughters, Debbie McGinnis and Shelly Rose both of Urbana; four grandchildren: Garrett and Karla McGinnis, and Megan and Brandon Hall; seventeen great grandchildren who were the loves of his life, two sisters and a brother-in-law: Grace Johnson of Selma, Reva and Bobby Douglas of Yellow Springs; in-laws: Paul Jones, Marlene and Bud Tyree, Alyce Brown, Rubye Smith, Lois and Harry Gentry; and many, many nieces and nephews, and adopted daughter, Jackie Bateman.

Honorary pallbearers: Bud Mills, Paul Jones, Jimmy Jones, Sonny Jones, Carl McGinnis, John Sesslar, John Schickadance, Brian and John Jones, Patrick Elliott, Jeff Jones, Dougie, Bobby, Keith, and Ronnie Douglas, Travis Jones, Danny Hamilton, John Certain, Pee Wee Harding, Vaughn McKenney and best friend who preceded him in death, Troy Elliott.

Buddy was a caring, honest, and loving. He served our community in many ways during his seventy-eight years, some of which were, firefighting, Assistant Police Chief, Deputy Sherriff, London Prison Guard, dockman at Wilson Freight, and grounds keeper at London Country Club. Most of all he enjoyed farming.

A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, December 5, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY. Friends may call that day from 12-2:00 p.m. The urn will be cared for by the family.
