On Saturday, August 30, 2008, State and Local Law Enforcement Officers from various jurisdictions gathered in Clark County in order to address complaints of criminal activity in the area of Mad River. During the course of this operation, Agents, Officers and Sheriff’s Deputies actively patrolled various locations along Mad River and took enforcement action for the violations observed. At the conclusion of the operation, fifty-two total arrests were made. Offenses included drug possession, alcohol violations, littering and various watercraft violations; one subject was arrested for an outstanding bench warrant from another county. The individuals involved were all cited for their violations and ordered to appear in the Clark County Municipal Court at a later date, the individual arrested on the warrant was placed into the Clark County Jail. The following agencies participated in this collaborative effort:

  3. Ohio Department of Public Safety-Ohio Investigative Unit
  4. Clark County Sheriff’s Office
  5. German Township Police Division
  6. Springfield Police Division
  7. Clark County/Springfield Municipal Court
  8. Clark County Juvenile Court
  9. Municipal Court Prosecutors Office
  10. Clark County Prosecutors Office (Juvenile Division)
  11. Clark County Waste Management District
  12. This joint operation was conceived and conducted in order to answer complaints of criminal activity and to promote the Clark County Mad River as a clean, safe waterway in our area. This effort will continue to provide citizens of our community the opportunity to enjoy boating on Mad River while being protected from illegal activity.
