Betty Joyce Zimmerman

Betty Joyce Zimmerman passed away Wednesday evening, April 16 at the age of 85 at Forest Glen Health Campus.

She was born on April 26, 1922 in Springfield the daughter of Riley and Joyce (Trombley) Smith.

Betty was a graduate of Springfield High School and attended Wittenberg University. For many years, Betty was a self-employed interior designer. Her volunteer services and memberships were extensive and included: past President of the Junior Service League, Chairperson of the Snyder Park Ladies Golf Association and later Northwood Hills Ladies Golf Association, Honorary Member of the Young Women's Mission, past President of St. John's Auxiliary, past chairperson of Planned Parenthood, and a Board member of the Clark Memorial Home. She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 52 years, John; her brothers, Hobart and Lloyd Smith; her daughter, Holly; and son-in-law, Bruce Woodhouse.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, John E. Zimmerman and his fiancé, Susan O'Brien of Chatham, New Jersey and Ann Woodhouse of Springfield; grandchildren, Heather (Chris) Lawson and Todd (Laura) Woodhouse, all of Hebron, Kentucky, and Emily Zimmerman of Chatham, New Jersey. She was also blessed with four great grandchildren, Emma, Jack and Maya Lawson and Katey Woodhouse. Betty was fortunate to have many wonderful and caring friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in High Street United Methodist Church with Pastor E. Cary Simonton officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.
