Alfred Leonard Kealey

Alfred Leonard "Len" Kealey, 84, of Springfield, died at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2008 in Oakwood Village. He was born in London, England on June 19, 1924 the son of Alfred Thomas and Florence Emma (Chapman) Kealey.

He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and proudly served as a Sergeant with the Royal Air Force in World War II from 1943-1947. Alfred was apprenticed at age 14 and spent 50 years in the printing business in Britain, Canada and the United States. He retired in 1989 from the Columbus Dispatch after 23 years of service. Alfred's passions in life were his family, ballroom dancing and traveling with his life partner Patricia and his continuing pursuit of medical insurance for all.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia J. (Seago); daughter and son-in-law, Linda (Philip) Stephens of Springfield; son, Christopher Kealey of Thornville, Ohio; five grandchildren and spouses, Ian (Kate), Colleen (Kevin), Wendy (Zac), Jeremy, Jessica (Shawn) and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Jessica; sister, Florence; brother, Stanley and step-brother, Paul.

His funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in Conroy Funeral Home with Pastor Raymond Stewart officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church or Elderly United.
